In this conversation, Christi and Eve explore the essence of coaching and the differences between coaching, mentoring, therapy, and consulting. In their opinion, the role of a coach is to create a space for the coachee to take responsibility for their own life and make their own choices.
Coaching is about loving disinterest, where the coach is fully present and curious about the coachee's experience without imposing their own beliefs or wisdom. The space that is created through this allowance helps the coachee to see themselves through the eyes of another without judgment which differentiates the coaching profession from other supporting professions.
This definition and standard of coaching is informed by and encouraged by recognized coaching associations such as the ICF (International Coaching Federation).
